Back to School 2018

I had so much fun doing back to school photos at the Art Box on August 11th. It took me a while to blog about it because I was busy personalizing those photos and getting them out to everyone. For privacy reasons I'm not going to share any of the personalized photos though - sorry! In fact, it would be too much to share all 12 kids in one blog post! So I'm going to just highlight one. Sebastian. I love this little guy. He has so much energy and he was great with his little twin sisters! So much cuteness in one family! Sebastian is about to start kindergarten at John Adams Academy and when I asked him his favorite pose, I immediately got a super hero pose. His mom asked if I could add some hero type saying to it - but I decided to add a little more "extra" to it. ;) What do you think?

Covey Family

I just LOVE the Covey family. I met Megan when she worked at a daycare/preschool near us. She was the first person I entrusted to watch my 11 week old baby as I headed back to work after my own maternity leave. I knew my baby was in great hands and we've been friends ever since! Megan is now co-owner of the Art Box Studio which is an awesome place for kids to go explore different types of art and just get messy! They also host paint nights for adults, kids paint parties, birthday parties and so much more! (And side note- most of my indoor photo sessions are done there when they have an opening to let me rent out some space! I love it!)

But this time we got together to photograph the Covey family as they grow from a family of 4 to a family of 5!

Arent they cute? And the best news? After two girls, the 3rd one will be a BOY. They are over the moon excited. Thanks for letting me capture these family portraits before he gets here!

When I started photography, I mostly photographed young kids and families. I still love to do that! But in the past couple years I've started photographing high school seniors and I LOVE it! It's so much fun to see the excitement of starting the next chapter of their lives! I love hearing all the exciting thing ahead for them as they head off to college or decide which branch of the military to join or if they have other exciting plans!

Last month I had the honor of photographing my very own niece in her graduation gown - the day before the actual graduation. We headed to the State Capitol in Sacramento after a celebratory family dinner to take a few quick pictures. I still remember her as a young girl when we met - she was the cutest flower girl I could have imagined for my wedding. We had nearly matching dresses! But enough about memory lane - let me tell you a little more about Sala!

Sala is going to do AMAZING things. She's accepted to American University in DC but she'll also be heading to Japan for a couple years in the middle of her schooling! Her grandparents live in Japan so it's not a foreign place to her. I can't wait to see what the future holds for her!

Princess and her F.R.O.G Dance

Friday night I had the amazing opportunity to photograph my daughter's Girl Scout dance for Princesses and their F.R.O.G.s (Father, Relative, or Other guy!) I had a blast calling everyone princess or frog - great way to not have to keep up with 70+ names... haha! For those that don't know me, I'm HORRIBLE with names. I tried to take some candids of the dancing - but most of the time I was taking more formal pictures with our fancy schmancy gold sequin backdrop. It was perfect for the mardi-gras type theme they did! Everything was gold, purple and green! The girls got to decorate face masks. It was just an awesome night. This was my daughter's first year in Girl Scouts so I hope this is a yearly thing!

Here's just a tiny sample to show just how much fun it was. These girls loved to dance, sing at the top of their lungs, and enjoy hanging out with their dads (and their friends!). It was a joy to watch.

"Little Grads" Mini Photo Shoot!

Today we had our photo shoot at the Art Box for our little Grads! We had three awesome kindergartners sign up! Here's a cute little sneak peek of them acting super cute as we celebrated finishing up their Kindergarten year and ready to become 1st graders! Almost time for a well deserved summer break!

I've been debating for a while - but I think I'll give this blog thing a shot! I hope to blog about all my future sessions and ideas. If you want to hear about other things along the way - just let me know!

Currently I'm gearing up for my "Little Grads" mini Sessions this Sunday, May 27th. From 2-5pm I'll be doing indoor mini sessions at the Art Box in Fair Oaks. I love that they are willing to share their space with me for a few hours to offer these fun sessions! They are just 15 minutes long (because honestly what 5 year old has an attention span much longer than that when it comes to sitting for pictures?) $40 pays the session fee and includes your choice of 2 digital files.
